What is The Declutters?

The Declutters is a Cyprus-based online marketplace where people can sell and give away items they no longer need.
All items are listed by private individuals, not businesses.

Our goal is to make decluttering simple, affordable, and more sustainable.

Our platform currently operates only within the Republic of Cyprus (government-controlled areas).

Shipping is not available in the northern part of the island.

 

Because your items still have value — even if you don’t need them anymore.

Whether you choose to give something away for free or sell it, your item goes to someone who genuinely wants it and will actually use it. Instead of ending up as waste, it gets a second life in a new home.

Decluttering doesn’t have to mean discarding — it can mean rehoming.

Because putting items in the recycle bins are often being treated as waste.

Something you no longer need might be exactly what someone else is looking for. By listing it on The Declutters, you give your item a second life instead of seeing it recycled unnecessarily or sent to landfill.

Imagine your favourite pair of jeans you no longer fit into sitting unused in your closet — or worse, thrown away — when they could be someone else’s new favourite pair.

Selling

Who sells on The Declutters?

All sellers on The Declutters are private individuals.
Professional or business sellers are not allowed on the platform.

Accounts that appear to operate as businesses may be restricted or removed.

You can sell items you own and no longer need, such as:

  • Clothing
  • Footwear
  • Accessories

Items must be legal, authentic, and accurately described.

You may not sell:

  • Illegal or prohibited items
  • Counterfeit or stolen goods
  • Unsafe, recalled, or hazardous items
  • Items that violate intellectual property rights

Listings that break the rules may be removed.

To access your vendor (seller) dashboard click on My Account. What you see there is all the info of you as a buyer. To access your info as a seller click on “Go to Vendor Dashboard“

  1. Go to your vendor dashboard

  2. Create your product

  3. Add photos and a clear description

  4. Set a price (or mark the item as free)

  5. Choose the locker size your item fits into. BoxNow can accommodate three package’s sizes: Small (H: 8 cm, W: 45 cm, L: 60 cm), Medium (H: 17 cm, W: 45 cm, L: 60 cm), Large (H: 36 cm, W: 45 cm, L: 60 cm) up to 20Kg

  6. Publish your listing

  7. The Declutters will review the listing and approve/decline it accordingly. If the listing is approved then you just wait for it to be sold 🙂 If your listing is declined check the reason it was declined and if possible update the listing and re-submit for approval
  8. Once someone buys your item, you’ll receive instructions for shipping.

Once your item is sold

  • Seller is notified so as to prepare the package. Make sure the package fits into the locker size you specified on the listing. Otherwise you will have to purchase a new BoxNow label at the right size
  • A shipping label is provided. Seller must print the shipping label and attach it on the outside of the package before drop-off OR clearly write the shipment code on the largest surface of your parcel with a permanent marker
  • The seller visits any BoxNow locker, enters the shipment code for the appropriate locker size to open and places the package inside
  • Close the locker and you are done

Access your vendor (seller) dashboard by navigating to My Account > Go to Vendor Dashboard > Settings > Payments > Add Payment Method

To receive payments, you’ll connect your bank account through Stripe. This is a process you do once.

You’ll need:

  • Your full name and address
  • Your ID (passport or ID card). Stripe may ask for a photo of your ID. This is standard and only happens once.
  • Your IBAN (bank account number) where you will receive your payouts
  • To register as a private individual (Sole Proprietor in Cyprus). No company needed
  • Industry: Retail -> Clothing & Accessories (Fashion)
  • Business website: thedeclutters.com 
  • Product description: selling pre-loved fashion items on a peer to peer marketplace

That’s it. One-time setup, takes about 3 minutes. Setting up your seller account and connecting your bank is completely free.

Your details are safe: payments are handled entirely by Stripe, a global payment provider. The Declutters never sees or stores your bank details.

Seller earnings are released after the order is successfully completed and once delivery is confirmed and no issue is reported. Sellers receive their earnings in their preferred bank account assuming they connected their Stripe account in the Vendor Dashboard.

Funds typically arrive within 3–5 business days (your very first payout may take up to 7 days — a standard Stripe check for new accounts).

Payments are processed through secure payment providers.

Sellers do not get paid if a buyer opens a valid dispute showing that the item was significantly different from its description.

If the buyer provides clear evidence (such as photos) that the item was not as described then the buyer is refunded and the seller is not paid.

Our goal is to ensure fairness for both parties, so accurate listings and proper documentation are essential.

We’ve built The Declutters to help protect both buyers and sellers — but there are important steps you should take as well:

  • Provide clear photos of the exact item you are selling in multiple angles.
  • Be honest and accurate in your description.
  • Show the real condition of the item.
  • Keep evidence of what you ship — take photos or a short video of the item and packaging before drop-off.
  • Use the platform’s official shipping process and tracking.

Providing evidence of the item’s condition and packaging helps protect you in case of disputes. Transparency and honesty in your listing are the best ways to prevent issues before they happen.

Buying

How do I buy?

Buying is simple:

  1. Browse items listed on The Declutters.

  2. Select the item you love and click Buy Now.

  3. Complete your checkout securely.

  4. Once the seller ships the item, you’ll receive tracking updates.

Your payment is protected until the item is delivered and as described.

Some items on The Declutters are listed as free.

Buyers only pay the applicable delivery and platform handling fees.
Free items are collected and shipped the same way as paid items.

Shipping is arranged through delivery methods available on the platform. Currently only BoxNow shipping is available at the buyer’s chosen locker at checkout.

Once an order is placed:

  • The seller prepares the item securely
  • Drops it off at any BoxNow locker
  • Buyer is informed when the package is ready to be picked

Delivery times may vary depending on location and locker availability.

The Declutters offers secure payments and a structured shipping process to help protect buyers. However, there are important steps you should take:

  • Carefully review the item description and photos.
  • Ask the seller questions if anything is unclear before purchasing.
  • Check the seller’s profile and reviews (if any).
  • Inspect your item promptly upon delivery. Keep evidence of what you open— take photos or a short video of opening the package.

If the item arrives significantly different from its description report the issue within the first 48 hours so we can review it.

Disputes, Refunds & Returns

How do refunds work?

Because all items are sold by private sellers (peer-to-peer marketplace):

  • Refunds are not accepted for change of mind.

Refunds are considered only if reported within the first 48 hours from delivery and if:

  • The item is significantly not as described

No. Returns are not accepted on The Declutters.

As a peer-to-peer marketplace, all sales are considered final. If you decide you no longer wish to keep an item, you’re welcome to relist it and pass it on to someone else.

If an item is damaged, incorrect, or significantly different from the listing:

  1. Contact us within a reasonable time after delivery (48 hours)

  2. Provide photos or evidence

  3. We’ll review the case and help mediate a solution

Refunds are issued only when the issue is confirmed.

We encourage buyers to carefully review item descriptions and photos before purchasing.

Payments & Fees

What are the platform fees?

The Declutters applies a small platform fee to both buyers and sellers to support:

  • Secure payments
  • Delivery coordination
  • Buyer protection
  • Platform maintenance

Any applicable fees are shown clearly at checkout before you pay but also at the vendor dashboard area.

In the event of a refund, the platform service fee is non-refundable unless the seller cancels the order before being processed.

The service fee covers payment processing, transaction handling, and administrative costs associated with the order. Even if an item is refunded, these costs have already been incurred.

Yes — Stripe processes billions of payments worldwide and is licensed by the Central Bank of Ireland for EU operations. Your data is fully encrypted and secure. The Declutters never sees or stores your bank details.

Accounts & Safety

Is my personal information safe?

Yes. We only collect information necessary to operate the marketplace and complete transactions.

Seller and buyer contact details are shared only when required for delivery.

We may:

  • Remove listings
  • Suspend accounts
  • Restrict access to selling or buying

This helps keep the platform fair and safe for everyone.
